Quran Verses about Theft

If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

(4:25)

As to the thief, Male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power.

(5:38)

At length when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he put the drinking cup into his brothers saddle-bag. Then shouted out a crier: "O ye (in) the caravan! behold! ye are thieves, without doubt!"

(12:70)

"Turn ye back to your father, and say, "O our father! behold! thy son committed theft! we bear witness only to what we know, and we could not well guard against the unseen!

(12:81)

(The brothers) said: "By Allah! well ye know that we came not to make mischief in the land, and we are no thieves!"

(12:73)

They said: "If he steals, there was a brother of his who did steal before (him)." But these things did Joseph keep locked in his heart, revealing not the secrets to them. He (simply) said (to himself): "Ye are the worse situated; and Allah knoweth best the truth of what ye assert!"

(12:77)
